While the sun here in Denver is gorgeous and it feels good on our skins on a sunny day, the truth is much more sinister.  Being in the window film industry have seen the damage the sun can do first hand. That’s right, the sun can have disastrous effects on everything from wood furnishing to human health.  The underlying cause of this?  UV rays–a type of radiation made up of different types of waves –most of them harmful.

What is UV Radiation and Why is It Harmful

UV radiation is the sun’s energy hitting the earth. UV rays are invisible to the eye but they can wreak havoc on the skin!  In big doses and/or over an extended amount of time, it can be deadly.  UV light is made up of two specific types of harmful radiation that cause things like sunburn, eye disease, and cancer: UVA and UVB. The longer of the two waves is UVA and while UVB is shorter they both cause harm to humans.  Actually, they deteriorate nearly anything they hit. This is why blocking these silent killers from coming into your home is so very important to the short and long-term health of your family and furnishings.

How Window Film Curbs the Harmful Effects of the Sun

Window film is a spectrally selective technology.  This means it selects certain rays to block out the harmful while still letting harmless visible light. rays of visible light.  This is the light we can see and is not deadly for humans–in fact, it has some benefits. It is the invisible rays that do all the damage (UVA and UVB).  This is why window film for your Denver home or business is so amazing.  It does the incredible task of filtering all these waves but still providing natural visible light.  This allows us to enjoy the sun coming into our homes and workplaces without succumbing to the harmful ones.  The ones that destroy things like your floors and skin.  This is just one of the many benefits of window film too!
