How Window Film Pricing Works

Generally, window film pricing is based on the needs of the client and what they hope to accomplish with their investment. However, other variables do affect the cost of an installation. That’s why we’ve provided the following information to help you gain a better understanding of what to expect for the expense of your project.

Establishing Project Goals

Before comparing film prices, it’s important to establish what goals you hope to achieve from your project. This will determine what type of film will be required for the installation. Some of the things that we ask our clients to consider are listed below.
Glare: Are you getting a lot of glare on tv screens, laptops or computers when the sun is out?
Fading: Is your building equipped with furniture, flooring, or artwork that needs protection from the sun so it won’t fade?
Safety: Do you want your office to feel safer or more secure?
Indoor comfort: Is it uncomfortably hot or cold inside your building or office at times?
Energy cost: Would you like to reduce your energy expenditures?
Aesthetics: Are you looking to redesign your office or commercial building?

Variables that Affect Film Pricing

Once the type of film that is needed for the project is identified, other variables will have to be taken into consideration in order to account for the total cost of the install. Time, labor, and product all affect the sum total.

Cost of manufacture: Low quality films are inexpensive to manufacture and therefore usually cost less to purchase. However, most of the time low quality films are nothing more than thin sheets of polyester treated with dye. A film of higher quality is made using multiple coatings of dye, metals, or ceramics and usually performs better.

Project size & complexity: How difficult or extensive the project is also affects the price of installation. If the windows are high up or hard to reach, additional labor will be required. Or if the project is large in size, it will also consume extra resources. However, many large commercial projects are able to receive a discounted rate.

Quality of service & warranty: If there is a warranty included with your install, this will also be reflected in the price. The quality of the service that’s performed has to be taken into consideration as well. While a smaller, lesser known company may charge less, they also are likely to be less experienced and have a smaller staff.

General Cost Estimate
